Tahoe Lift Maintenance Apprenticeship

Program Description

This exciting new apprenticeship program in beautiful Lake Tahoe is designed for those looking to enter into, or progress within, a career on the slopes as a ski lift mechanic or electrician.  Aligned to standards established by the recognized ski industry leader, NSAA (National Ski Areas Association) in their newly released Lift Maintenance Training Resource Guide, this program leads to all the skills and experience necessary to certify as a Level One ski lift maintenance mechanic or electrician. This is the first significant step in a career path that can lead to further certification as a Level Two or Level Three mechanic or electrician (click here to learn more about the NSAA).

This apprenticeship program is a first for the industry, combining on-the-job training with related instruction from certified instructors.  While you are working on the slopes with Level Three mechanics or electricians, you’ll be required to take online or in-school courses in a multitude of subjects, including Wilderness Education, Mechatronics, and Ropeway Maintenance.  We are currently operating a pilot program with Sierra-at-Tahoe but plan on adding additional resorts soon.
